Half Marathon training - week 6

This week I managed 3 runs.  I also did 2 days of ab blaster Nike Training App.

I've also started the 30 days Abs Challenge.  It's something else that will help me get my goals and gives me focus.  A lot of my friends are doing it too

My distance was a 2.6 miles run followed by two 3 mile runs.  I'm finding the first part of my run the hardest, once I've done about half a mile I feel much better and get into my stride and enjoy the run.

I'm still using my FitBit and finding it a great motivator.  I try every ay to beat the number of steps I did the previous day.  The weather has been nice so I've been out walking every day 2-3 miles pushing Baby M in his pushchair, on top of my runs.

I also met a friend of a friend on a night out who has just joined a running group and is also looking for a running partner.  Whilst I don't think we would be able to go on every run together is good to have someone to go out with every so often.  I'm looking at whether the running group is something I would be able to do too.

We are going to my inlaws this weekend and I wasn't going to take my running stuff due to not knowing the area but there is a main road I could run so I'm going to take my stuff and hopefully get out.  I have no idea the distance but at least I will be running.  We will be doing plenty of walking even if I don't get out for a run

Looking forward to getting out for at least 4 runs next week

Half Marathon training - weeks 3, 4 and 5

To be honest there was no training weeks 3 and 4.  My excuses were we had visitors - lame I know!

I decided at the end of week 4 though that I needed to give myself a firm kick up the bum and get my ass in gear.

I got myself a FitBit Flex.  I walk quite a bit with Baby M, I try to walk every day if it is dry.  I thought the FitBit would enable me to monitor my walking as well as my running.  It has been a great motivator!!

I have also started doing my Nike Training App Ab Blaster workout as well as I need to tone up my belly.   It's 15 minutes of ab intense workouts including plank, Russian twists and toe touches.  My abs feel sore but as they say - no pain no gain!!

I have managed 3 runs this week.

My first was 1.8 miles with my next 2.1 miles.  My plan for my run over the weekend is to build up to about 3 miles then slowly increase the distance.  I plan to run Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday with a possible run on Monday depending on Mr M's work.  We are going to the inlaws next weekend and there are family events planned, plus I don't know the area well so wouldn't know where to go for a good run.  We will be doing lots of walking so I will be doing some exercise.

The days I don't run I will do the ab blaster on my Nike Training app as I have done this week.

I have enjoyed running and am glad I've actually started properly.  Let's see what next week brings

Half Marathon Training - week 2

Week 2 didn't really start off any better than week 1 as my cold got progressively worse and ended up on my chest.  Even walking up and down the stairs left me breathless!!

I have been feeling like someone is sitting on my chest until yesterday so haven't been out for a run.

I'm hoping that things continue to improve & I will be able to get out for a run at some point over the weekend.  Even if I don't manage a run I am planning on doing my ab blaster part of my Nike app

Half Marathon training - Week 1

My first week hasn't gone as planned.

I thought I would manage 4-5 runs & I managed 2.  I haven't done any of my Nike app

Firstly I was ill then Mr M has been teething & I've had hardly any sleep, I'm not sure how I've managed my day to day tasks never mind a run. I feel like I'm making excuses though.  Mr M reminded me that I haven't been sitting on my bum not bothered & that I'm my harshest critic.  He's right there, I am.

The runs I have completed have been 1.8 miles completed in 20 minutes, not too bad.  I've been using MapmyRun app to record my runs.  My plan is to build this distance up then introduce interval training.

I'm hoping that week 2 will be better than week 1. The feeling you get after a run is great & I know once I get into a routine there will be no stopping me.
